AN EVENING concert by the Springhill Strings, a group of young, local and exceptionally talented musicians, takes place at Kingshill House, Dursley tonight (8pm).
The Springhill Strings met through the county orchestras and the Gloucester Academy of Music. They have performed across the county and won numerous solo and ensemble prizes at the Cheltenham Festival of Music.
They have performed at the Castangetto Carducci International Music Festival in Italy as well as in Switzerland and France. They have recently been invited to perform with Between the Notes and the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Proms in London.
There are eight musicians altogether including the talented brothers Samuel and Geoffrey Jones. Samuel is a brilliant violinist who has won awards for his outstanding performances.
With Geoffrey on the cello and other members on violin, viola and cello, they will be performing a selection of well-known classical pieces to uplift, inspire and take your breath away.
These include Schuvbert String Quartet in D, Death and the Maiden, Schubert Quintet for two cellos in C minor and Mendelssohn's First Octet.
Don't miss this evening of classical delight and incredible musical talent.
This is an opportunity to support our young local gifted musicians.
