CAM Bulldogs have been kicked out of the Reg Davis Memorial Northern Senior League Cup for playing an ineligible player in last Wednesday's first round tie at Charfield, writes Keith Watson.

The Bulldogs were winning 1-0 with ten minutes remaining when Jer Coburn limped off and was replaced by Carl Bailey.

No further goals were scored and Cam looked to have gone through until it emerged that Bailey, who has been at the club for over 18 months, had not signed a NSL form to renew his registration for the 2005/06 season.

The oversight meant that Stuart Grimwood's side was booted out of the cup and instead it was Charfield that went on to play Cheltenham Civil Service in round two.

Charfield even had the luxury of playing the tie at home because the Civil Service ground was not yet ready.

However, the South Gloucestershire side could not make the most of their reprieve as the Civil Service left with a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Kingswood moved into the quarter-finals after a 2-1 win at Tuffley Rovers Reserves.

After an even opening, Kingswood took the lead on 25 minutes when Paul Freeman turned in a low corner from Simon Clark.

They doubled the margin in the first minute of the second period when Barrie Dibden robbed a defender and coolly beat the goalkeeper.

The visitors had further efforts from Ian Gosling and Nick Bishop kept out but had to endure a nervous final few minutes when Pete Thomas pulled a late goal back for Tuffley.

Kingswood travel to Tetbury Town for tomorrow's quarter-final (3pm).

Dursley Town were knocked out as they lost 4-2 at home to Longlevens.

The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half but were pegged back on 30 minutes when Adam Philp pulled the ball down on the edge of the box and rifled a shot past the goalkeeper.

The second half was nip and tuck but Longlevens eventually went into a 3-1 lead.

Rich Gillingham gave Dursley renewed hope when he curled in a 20-yard free-kick with quarter of an hour remaining but the visitors secured the game five minutes from time when a corner was floated straight into the Town net.

Berkeley Town scored two goals late in the first half of their tie at Shortwood United Reserves to lead 2-1 at the break.

James Firth made it 1-1 before Pete Lavis scored from the penalty spot after Rich Langford was brought down.

However, a Shortwood side making use of some first team squad players eqaulised in the second half to take the game to penalties.

Doug Gray's side went down 5-4 in the shootout.
