IT WAS with some satisfaction that I read a letter from Mr William Sims (Gazette, March 25) in response to my previous letter in which I drew attention to the traffic problems, which are likely to ensue as a result of inadequate parking facilities being provided for the block of eight flats, which have been erected in Eggshill Lane.

Regarding his assumption of my so-called objection to this development, either vigorously or otherwise, there has been none. I had no involvement in any protests, which may have taken place. Neither have I signed any petitions regarding this development. My present concern is based solely on the effect that this will have, and is already having on the traffic situation in the area.

Mr Sims' concern for the plight of local authorities when trying to meet demands of first-time buyers is most touching; it is so refreshing to have such public-spirited individuals in the community, I am surprised that he did not advise the actual owner to offer the land to the local authority free of charge in order to help the homeless.

How kind of him to defend my right to express an opinion.
