THORNBURY's popular young people's music and drama Eisteddfod is now well underway and scores of young singers and musicians have already been demonstrating their vocal, choral and orchestral skills.
"Things are going just as well as we hoped and it's turning into yet another highly succesful Eisteddfod," said Tony Wilcock, chairman of the Thornbury Arts Festival sub committee which organises the event.
"Last Wednesday's choral categories at Castle School were outstanding and the audience were very appreciative. The singing was of high quality and I know the adjudicators were suitably impressed.
"There are some fantastically talented children in and around Thornbury and it's just a pleasure listening to them all." More than 700 young people are taking part in this year's event - aimed at encouraging excellence in music, speech and drama. Prize winners and other selected performers will be appearing in a celebration concert in the Armstrong Hall on Sunday, March 6. Tickets are available now from the festival booking office in the town hall.
