GREEN fingered enthusiasts were on top form this week at the 41st Pilning Flower Show.

According to organisers the show, which was held at Trinity Hall on Saturday, August 28, attracted a record number of entries.

As well as classes for vegetables, flowers, and fruits there were also categories for preserves, cakes, wines, photographs and those for children to enter.

Best exhibit in show was awarded to Tim Fisher for his granary loaf, and David England was the most successful competitor gaining most points in the show, excelling in the vegetable classes.

This year’s flower show was supported by local firms Warburtons, Almondsbury Garden Centre, Thornbury Garden Shop, Sandays and Constellation Europe Elaine Hodge, organiser, said: "The show was a great success and I was very grateful that with the support of the public, helpers and our other sponsors, Seabank Power and Cape, we hope to be able to donate in the region of £500 to our chosen local charity for this year Multiple Sclerosis Peoples Help."
