Roger Gilbert, academy principal, said: "I am absolutely delighted by the performance of this year’s Year 11 students in achieving the highest ever results for the academy.
"I am especially pleased with passing the 50 per cent mark for five or more A* to C including English and mathematics, which is a significant improvement on the results of 2010.
"The hard work and commitment of this particular group of students cannot be underestimated, and I must thank all those involved in their success, including all of the academy teaching and support staff and their parents and carers."
