COULD you run the county for a day? Now’s your chance to prove it.

That could be made possible during Children’s Commissioners Takeover Day, an initiative organised by Gloucestershire County Council to give young people to chance to take placements in top jobs.

Would you like to be an MP for a day or run Gloucestershire County Council? Perhaps you would like to dig for hidden history as an archaeology assistant or take the editor’s hotseat at a newspaper?

The opportunities include taking on top jobs such as those of Pete Bungard, the chief executive of the county council, Cllr Paul McLain, deputy leader of the county council, and MPs Martin Horwood and Neil Carmichael.

You could also mix with some of the world’s top rugby stars at Kingsholm by taking on the role of community manager at Gloucester Rugby.

Local organisations have come forward to offer posts and jobs at all levels to be taken over. The council will match young people with ‘employers’ and support them with the application process. The opportunities can involve job shadowing or work experience.

Takeover Day is on Friday, November 11. To see a full list of jobs visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/takeoverday and you need to apply before October 11.
