A TEAM of National Trust staff and volunteers completed a 30 mile walk into Bath to highlight the beauty of the south Cotswolds.

The group set off from Newark Park, near Wotton-under-Edge, and followed the Cotswold Way past the National Trust owned Horton Court, near Sodbury, Dyrham Park on the A46 and Prior Park in Bath.

Despite sore feet and aching muscles, they all arrived safely in the centre of Bath.

The aim of the walk was to get to know the communities along the route and to raise awareness of that part of the Cotswold Way, which takes in Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

The National Trust in Bath and South Cotswolds is working with the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and local businesses to promote Trust properties along the Cotswold Way National Trail.

The team met up with volunteers and supporters along the route and even joined a group from pupils from Horton School for a nature trail.

"The team was led by our Cotswold voluntary wardens who manage this part of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for the enjoyment of walkers and ramblers,’ said Katy Smith, visitor experience manager at Prior Park.

The walkers were followed along by the National Trust's movable traditional Shepherd’s Hut, which is normally out on the Bath Skyline providing information for walkers on the popular walking route.

Alongside the walk a series of outdoors activities for children was available at Dyram Park and Prior Park.

Katy added: "It proved to be a tougher challenge than expected but everybody enjoyed themselves greatly and are now great ambassadors for the benefits of getting into the outdoors and enjoying the countryside here in the south Cotswolds."
