A NURSERY in Yate has been told it is providing children with a good start to life.
Ofsted inspectors said Sodbury Vale Day Nursery is ‘exceptionally strong’ at developing partnerships with parents, outside agencies and feeder schools which helps youngsters’ progress.
The nursery, which caters for pre-school children at the Ridgewood Centre on Station Road, received an overall good rating.
Inspector Lucy Ham said: "Children are happy and feel exceptionally secure and safe in the relaxed welcoming atmosphere.
"Staff interactions with children are good. They provide interesting environments which meet children’s needs well overall. This means all children generally make positive progress in their learning and development."
She said children’s behaviour was exemplary and activities were thoroughly planned around what children wanted to do.
Ms Ham said to further improve the nursery needs to improve children’s daily routine so they take a more active role in their learning and improve the outside play provision.
The nursery previously received an outstanding rating in 2008.
Co-owner Hollie Dennis said the nursery was very proud of the report.
She added: "Staff have had a lot of changes to cope with over the last few years including myself and Claire Saphier taking over and a new curriculum. They have coped extremely well with those changes and embraced them.
"We are really proud of this Ofsted report and feel it reflects the hard work of our staff."
The nursery has recently had a garden refurbishment although an outside tap, which Ofsted wanted fitted, cannot be installed because of the garden’s location.
