COMMUNITY radio station Thornbury FM will have the support of more than 40 local shops, firms and companies when it begins its next four-week broadcast on Monday, November 6.
The businesses have all taken up the opportunity to advertise on air, heping ot cover the station's costs.
"We are committed to promoting local businesses, said station chairman Thornbury vicar the Rev David Primrose. "In return, the advertising revenue will cover about half the £7,000 which it costs per broadcast. The success of our radio advertising is an indication that we believe in local business and they believe in us."
Thornbury FM has also recruited commercial sponsorship from two local companies. Oldbury Power Station, which helped with the initial launch last year, will be sponsoring the first week while the second week will be sponsored by Bristol Care Homes, which provide residential nursing care at Beech House in Thornbury and Glebe House in Almondsbury.
Said David Primrose: "We're very grateful for this generous support, and still hope to find sponsorship for the last two weeks."
The Gazette will again be publishing weekly details of the programming schedule, with full information available on www.thornburyfm.org
