REPLICA firearms have been found at a property in Dursley as part of a district-wide police crackdown.

Yesterday morning, July 12, seven homes were raided across the Stroud district including four in Dursley in Reine Barnes, Oak Drive, Pedersen Close and Parsonage Street.

At 8.15am approximately 50 officers carried out a series of search warrants at the Dursley homes as well as at properties in Stroud and Stonehouse.

Firearms officers, specially trained search officers and the dogs unit were all involved in the operation, which resulted in six people being arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

Officers recovered what is believed to be both class A and class B drugs and around £3,500 in cash from a number of the addresses.

Police also confirmed that a number of replica firearms and other replica weapons were seized from the address in Oak Drive.

Speaking after the raids Chief Inspector Andy Wasley said the operation was part of the Constabulary’s work to tackle drugs and firearms offences and thanked the community for its support.

He said: "We would ask residents to continue helping us by reporting any information about the use or supply of illegal drugs to us or anonymously to Crimestoppers."

Anyone with information about the use or supply of illegal drugs should call Gloucestershire Police on 101, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
