A MAN has died after an early morning crash on the M5.

A blue Peugeot 406 was travelling north on the motorway when it struck the central reservation at approximately 4.20am between junctions 13, for Stroud, and 12, for Gloucester.

The male driver, the only occupant of the Peugeot, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics as a result of his injuries.

The M5 has now reopened southbound but remains closed between junctions 13 and 12 northbound.

Motorists are being advised to find alternative routes with traffic delays being reported in the area.
