THE occupants of a car had a lucky escape in Chipping Sodbury on Sunday after the vehicle they were in became trapped under trailer.

The Peugeot car was in collision with the tractor, which was towing a trailer full of grass cuttings, when the driver of the tractor lost control on Smarts Green roundabout.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Simon Hatch said: “Two casualties were rescued by fire and rescue personnel using hydraulic cutting equipment and were treated on the scene and then conveyed to hospital by ambulance.

“We then made the vehicles and the area safe.”

The car ended up underneath the trailer but the emergency services managed to rescue all the occupants without any major injuries.

PC Dave Nash told the Gazette: “The driver of the tractor has lost control for whatever reason and the trailer has gone over with the car crashing into it head on.

“There were only very minor injuries which was very lucky.”

It happened at 2pm and St John’s Way, from the roundabout, was closed for around two hours.
