THE FUTURE of Dursley Heritage Centre is set to be decided at a special meeting next week as a new chairman takes over the reins.

The meeting on Saturday, July 26 at Dursley Methodist Church Hall on Castle Street will be an opportunity to hear about developments at the centre and will also give people a chance to share their views and become involved in its future.

The heritage centre been running for ten years after the pioneering efforts of Cath and Gerry Pierce who worked with the town trust to obtain approval and funding for it to be built and opened.

The couple have decided to take a well-deserved retirement from the heritage centre committee but are continuing as volunteers.

New chairman Andy Barton, who has lived in the Kingshill area of Dursley for the last 15 years and helped start the heritage centre is keen tog et more people involved,

“We’re always looking to put more exhibitions on if we can get more volunteers,” said the 55-year-old civil engineer.

“The meeting was to make plans and to bring together some of the volunteers and interested parties and see how we could move forward.”

The meeting starts at 11am and coffee and tea will be provided.
