A COMMUNITY’s local friendship group for older resident is moving to a new venue.

Past Times Cafe, the Cam Woodfields friendship group for older residents, will open again in Springfields Court at Autumn.

The club is free to residents in the area and will meet every Wednesday afternoon from September 10 between 1 and 4 pm in the Community Room at Springfields Court, Cam.

As well as tea, coffee and conversation, various activities will also be on offer, including arts and crafts, gentle exercise, dance, music, reminiscence, knitting and talks.

The friendship group is organised by the local community organisation World Jungle, with funding from the People’s Health Trust.

It aims to combat loneliness and isolation within older sections of the community.

Rosheen Windsor helped establish the group.

She said: “The Past Times Cafe has made a real difference to people’s lives, providing a welcoming space for people to get together socially and enjoy a range of activities.

“The benefits to how you feel just by getting out of the house, having a chat with friends, or getting to try something new, or go somewhere different, are huge.

“We are delighted to be able to continue to run and develop the friendship club and look forward to inviting both regulars and new members to our new venue in Springfields Court.”
