A FUN day was held at a vet’s practice to help raise funds for a new cat and dog shelter.

Vale Vets, based in Dursley, organised the fun day, involving snakes, spiders and meerkats to support the planned Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home.

The event was held at the Dursley branch of Vale Vets on Sunday, July 27, and raised £450 for the home, which was given to RSPCA South Cotsowlds on the day.

Anneliese Havel, of Vale Vets, who helped coordinate the event, said: “We were absolutely delighted with the way the event turned out.

“It was so well supported by our clients and the local community and having such exotic animals there really did add an extra dimension to the whole thing.”

Vale Vets will be holding a Christmas evening later in the year to help raise further funds for the cause with animal themed carol singing and a Father Christmas for dogs.
