This week the Gazette covered the story of Rob Camm, who has just started a course at Bristol University one year after a car accident left him paralysed.

It was September 2013 and Rob, 20, not long home from travelling, was a week away from attending York University.

He was 19 years old, realising freedom for the first time, when in an instant it was taken away from him.

The story of the journey he has undertaken over the past year to reach his current stage is both incredibly moving and inspirational.

To imagine coping with that situation is, for most of us, unfathomable, and thankfully so.

But Rob is more than just an inspiration to those going through similar crises; he is an inspiration to all of us facing challenges on a daily basis.

It is often easier to dwell on the past and contemplate what could have been rather than looking forward and carrying on, but this is not what Rob has done.

When he was injured in the crash he didn’t just lose the use of his body. He also saw many of his hopes and dreams dashed before his eyes.

To bounce back after something like that and rebuild his life in what is relatively a massively short period of time is more than admirable.

The next time you face something challenging in your own life, no matter how large or small, perhaps spare a thought for Rob Camm.

It may remind you that with enough drive and determination anything is within your reach.
