DURSLEY police are to stage a free burglary prevention day in Cam.

The event will take place between 10am and 4pm at Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre, on this Saturday, October 25.

The event is part of an ongoing drive by Gloucestershire Constabulary to increase awareness of the threat of burglary and to offer constructive crime prevention advice throughout the Severn Vale.

Event-organiser PC Peter Lay of Stroud and Dursley neighbourhood police team said: “We are now entering a time of year with shorter days and longer nights when the area’s dwelling and non-dwelling burglaries can really spike.

“Only victims of burglaries really know how devastating it is to be targeted by a burglar and this event takes our mobile police station out on the road with easy-to-implement crime prevention advice, as well as giving us the chance to support the Pony Club in the delivery of their Security Badge day.

“We’ll have a 'while-u-wait' tack security clinic where expensive riding equipment can be marked and made more traceable for free by a specialist rural crime officer, plus a range of low cost outbuilding alarm devices for sale.

“It's great that the Pony Club at Tumpy have kindly opened their gates to make this a public event and we look forward to meeting and assisting users of livery yards and householders from the Severn Vale.

“So come along and get some free crime prevention advice while having a nice day out.”

The day will also involve a 'equestrian tack security clinic' for local horse riders.
