EXCITEMENT is growing throughout Cam and Dursley as they come closer to the opening of their brand new community cinema.

The cinema is set to open its doors on Saturday, December 13, with screenings of Disney’s Frozen in the morning and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in the evening.

The cinema will be run by the Chantry Centre in partnership with World Jungle to establish an active community resource used by all sections of the community.

Based at the Chantry Centre, in Long Street, Dursley, where a top-of-the-range HD projector has just been installed, it will be run by a group of volunteers keen on making the cinema a regular feature on the town’s social calendar.

Spokesman Adrian Judge said: “The Chantry Centre has the potential to be an excellent community cinema providing films for all ages, especially for those who find it difficult to travel.

“Dursley used to have a cinema and it would be great to be able to have this again in the town.

“We really hope that people will come along and support the launch. The more interest we can generate, the more likelihood we will have of making this a regular event.”

Doors open for Disney’s Frozen at 10.30am, with £1 entry and children are encouraged to get dressed up and sing along. Children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 plus.

Doors open again at 7pm for the showing of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Tickets are £3 on the door and a bar and refreshments will be available.
