LABOUR party members gave a vote of confidence to Ed Miliband at their all party meeting in Dursley.

Members of the Stroud Constituency Labour Party, who met on Friday, November 21, also voiced their disappointment with negative media portrayals of their party leader.

The motion passed was: “This Stroud CLP ALL Members Meeting pledges its full support to Ed Miliband as the leader of the Labour Party and future prime minister.”

David Drew, who recently launched his campaign for re-election with the opening of a new Labour office in Silver Street, Dursley, praised Mr Miliband’s leadership.

He said: “Ed is the only party leader to be pointing out that the economy is not working for most people.

“Ed recognises that austerity has failed and he knows the issues that people face in their day to day life. He has shown bold leadership in promising to take on the vested interests who are happy to keep millions of people on low wages while they rake in the profits.

“Those vested interests do not want Labour to win – and the attacks on Ed Miliband demonstrate that they are worried Labour may do just that.”
