THE JOINT owners of The Mall at Cribbs Causeway have begun collating initial feedback from visitors to their recent public exhibition.

The feedback received by M&G Real Estate, intu and JT Baylis, indicates that the public, generally, support the proposals for further investment in the area.

The public exhibition, held over Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25, gave shoppers the chance to review the joint owners’ initial vision for a new heart for the Cribbs Causeway area.

The plans were proposed in response to recent proposals to build about 8,000 new houses within the next 20 years, in the area.

Members of the project team spoke with thousands of visitors to the public exhibition and collected around 200 feedback forms during the event.

Initial analysis of the feedback forms received to date has found that: Over 82 per cent of respondents support the emerging proposals and that four out of every five respondents outlined their support for proposals to create a large new events space.

The responses also show that almost 90 per cent of respondents outlined their support for the proposal to bring additional retail to the shopping centre and over 85 per cent of respondents said they support proposals for a wider range of dining and leisure facilities.

The proposals could create about 3,750 permanent jobs and around 3,000 jobs as part of any construction work which is expected to be delivered through the proposals.

Philip Vaughan, director: development at M&G Real Estate said: “we were pleased to see so many local people and shoppers attend our exhibition and the overall response to the proposals was very positive.

“We gathered some extremely useful feedback, particularly with regards to the proposed events and community space, and we will now review all feedback in advance of submitting an outline application to South Gloucestershire Council, expected at the end of the year.”
