THOUSANDS of people filled the streets of Thornbury for this year’s Christmas food fair.

The regions foodies descended on the town for the fair which brings the best local producers in the area to the fair organised by Thornbury Chamber of Commerce.

Castle Street was filled with people getting into the festive period at the fair, held on Saturday, December 6.

There were 84 stalls at the event in total selling a range of food and Christmas items, from pulled pork and beer to artisan gifts.

Stallholders said that some of the several thousand visitors in attendance had travelled from areas as far as Birmingham and London.

Penny Skinner helped to organise the event as a member of the town’s Chamber of Commerce.

She said: “It was absolutely amazing, and our stallholders were selling some beautiful things.

“To hear that people had travelled so far to come to the fair was staggering.

“It was a really good atmosphere. And many of the people who got there right before it started could be still be spotted at the end of the event.”

As well as the festive food on offer a range of Christmas gifts were available – from wreaths to Christmas cards.

The road is closed for the food fairs which are held four times a year to allow for people to explore the fair’s offerings.
