A COMMUNITY group is calling on people to offer a helping hand over the Christmas period.

Friends at Christmas is asking people to make a difference and join them in offering their festive events in Dursley this year.

Coordinator Indigo Redfern said: “We rely on a huge team of helpers to make this vital community event to happen and each year we get such a varied and interesting group of helpers.”

Each year the community rallies together and provides a warm welcome for anyone who wants company over Christmas in the Cam and Dursley area.

Teams of helpers are needed in the kitchen, or as drivers, servers, supporting guests or entertainment.

Ms Redfern continued: “It’s a lovely way to spend Christmas. The guests have a great time and the volunteers enjoy it just as much.

“It’s an opportunity to do something really different at Christmas, meet lots of new people and make friends too.”

If you are able to help out on Christmas Day or Boxing Day contact the Friends at Christmas group on 01453 547032.

The event is supported by Churches Together, with food and funds donated by the community and helpers from across the county.
