SPECIAL individually decorated reindeers designed by children from schools in Cam for the town’s Christmas parade will be auctioned off – and most of the funds raised will go straight back to the youngsters.

Young students from schools and playgroups around Cam were involved in the project which was used in a “reindeer trail” for Cam’s Christmas light switch-on event on Saturday, November 29.

The money from each reindeer will be split, with 50 per cent going to the school it came from, 25 per cent going to Cam Hopton House and 25 per cent going to Cam Traders Group to help fund future projects.

Anne Kitchin is the manager of Clutterbucks, in Cam, and a member of the Cam Traders Group, who helped organise the event at Christmas.

She said: “The local schools did a fantastic job decorating our reindeer and we cannot thank them enough.

“It would be lovely to give something back to the schools in recognition of this. The Christmas light switch on – incorporating Hopton School House fair, Olaf switching the lights on and the reindeer trail – went so well and was supported the local community.

“We are already planning a similar event for next Christmas. We are also looking at what we can do next. Any ideas or comments from Cam residents would be gratefully received.

“Please come and have a look at the Reindeer if you missed them at Christmas and put in a bid for some very worthy causes.”

If you would like to bid for one of the reindeer, put the following information in a sealed envelope: your name, contact details, the details of the reindeer you would like to bid on and your bid. Then hand your envelope into Cam Parish Council offices or Clutterbucks by Thursday, January 29.

The highest bidders will be notified on Saturday, January 30. The reindeers are to be collected and paid for by Saturday, February 14, or will go to the next highest bidder.

The schools and playgroups that decorated the reindeers were Cam Woodfield Infants and Juniors, The Woodfield Nest, Cam Everlands, Funbusters, Cam Everlands, Cam Hopton, Hopton School House and

the Peak Academy.
