SEVERAL people were cut from their cars near Wotton-under-Edge yesterday after a pile-up in a blizzard.

A multi-car pile up occurred yesterday morning shortly after 9am after cars continued to slide into the scene of an accident on the B4058 near the Cotswold Edge Golf Club.

Fire crews from Wotton and Dursley were dispatched to the scene and ended up cutting five people from their cars, who were subsequently treated by South Western Ambulance Service.

Mary Burton, of Chippenham, stopped at the scene of the initial crash, only to be hit by three cars who were unable to slow down enough in time.

She said today: "I'm still a bit bruised and battered but I'm alright now.

"It was a really bad snow storm and cars were queued up round the corner and all over the place, wondering whether or not they could squeeze through.

"I thought I would turn around and take another route, but just then two cars came into the back of me.

"Then an Audi came round and had no where to go. It tried to get between me and another car and ended up scraping the sides of both of us.

"I didn't realise what was going on. It was a bit of a shock."
