THE SECOND book written by an Oldbury power station worker has been released.
54-year-old Elaine Naylor’s new book, released at the end of January, ‘Fighting Fifty, Mood Swings and Men’ is a modern day romance novel about Katherine Case, a 50-year-old woman who is battling the physical and emotional symptoms associated with mid life.
Mrs Naylor, from Gossington, near Slimbridge said: “This is the second ‘Fighting Fifty’ book, which although fictional, is inspired by my own pre-menopausal experiences and perceptions about this significant period of a woman’s life.
“I understand that for many women, life doesn’t end in their fifties, for some it’s a time for new beginnings or a last chance to pursue a long-abandoned dream.
The senior contract specialist at the nuclear power station added: “In my 50s I resurrected my own dream to write a novel and now I have two published with the third, ‘Fighting Fifty in Vegas’, well underway.
“My middle-aged friends are interesting and accomplished, which is why I believe there is a place for light reading stories like mine on every bookshelf.”
“After the first book many people asked me how I managed to work full time, pursue a career, run a house and still find the time to write a book. This is why captured the writing process for this book on my website, so I could share this firsthand experience with aspiring authors, in the hope it would encourage one of them to pick up a pen and write.”
