MORE Gloucestershire services will become available online with thanks to £10,000 from a new programme which aims to promote the successful use of technology.

Twenty-seven councils have been awarded money from the Digital Experts programme, run by the Local Government Association, with one of the successful bids coming jointly from Gloucester City Council and Gloucestershire County Council.

The programme was set up to help councils develop their use of technology by learning from the digital tools and approaches which have been successful elsewhere.

The funding will allow both councils to work together and explore new ways for local people to engage with them using digital tools like mobile phone apps.

Deputy leader of Gloucestershire County Council Cllr Ray Theodoulo said: “There’s already a lot of excellent work going on in both councils to look at how our online services can be improved. The funding will give us the opportunity to take this further and work towards providing more of the online services local people have told us they want.”
