MORE homes and jobs are to become available in Dursley as developers finalise the remaining phases of sprawling £150 million development.

Last week saw the end of the Lister Petter factory at the bottom of Long Street, Dursley, as the final parts of the major buildings were reduced to rubble.

Now St Modwen, the developers heading the Littlecombe project and the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has officially announced its plans for the land as their scheme gears up for completion in 2018.

The first two phases of housing on the Littlecombe site are nearing completion, with nearly 200 new homes made available to date.

Littlecombe Business Park boasts 16 fully occupied commercial units together with three anchor tenants within the site’s refurbished office building, Drake House. There is also the additional asset of the Vale Community Hospital.

Residential land director for St Modwen Ben Cook said: “We’ve made great progress at Littlecombe, with much of the site already established and underway.”

The group has now reviewed and refreshed the details for the remaining 7.75 acres of developable land, submitting an outline planning application for the remainder.

This final phase will comprise of approximately 258 homes and apartments and a further 65,000 square feet of employment space – surrounded by green open space.

On completion in 2018 St Modwen hope Littlecombe will offer around 450 homes and 1,000 potential new jobs.

A spokeswoman for Dursley Town Council said: "The council is looking forward to receiving the plans relating to the final stages of the Littlecombe development and is hopeful that additional jobs can be created on the site following the loss of Lister Petter.

"The council will work with Stroud District Council to encourage new businesses to fill the space.

The initial stages of the development were first granted permission by SDC in 2012.
