BUCKET-LIST fundraiser Cameron Hutchinson has done it again with another successful charity event in the form of a boat trip from Saul Junction to Slimbridge.

Cameron, 23, of Cam, and scores of friends, family and supporters, took on the challenge in canoes and kayaks to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

On the day the charity gave Cameron two tickets to a match at Arsenal, his team, this coming Sunday, where he will be able to view the game from the edge of the pitch.

The event, beginning in Saul, got underway on the morning of Sunday, April 5, with 21 people – including Cameron himself – in kayaks, eight in canoes, and many others walking and cycling along the bank.

All those involved had a great deal of fun – with the odd splash along the way as people tumbled from their boats and into the water, to the amusement of others in the group.

Cameron said: “Once again I cannot believe how many people in the community are supporting me in my journey.

“I would like to thank The Railway pub in Cam for putting on the food buffet after the event, and Lorne for getting me tickets to go to watch the racing this weekend with Pete Jenkins.”

The Gazette is very grateful that Cameron went on to pay thanks to the paper for its support.

He continued: “I would also like to thank the Gazette again for following my story. They're amazing”

Cameron’s mum Rebecca Noble said: “It went really really well – it was brilliant.

“It was a really good turnout of people and everybody there had a lot of fun. Cam was thrilled with his two tickets to the Arsenal match.

“I’d like to say a thank you to Richard from Berkeley for the canoes and to Emma Louise Taylor for the kayaks, and also the Canal and River Trust for allowing us to complete the event on the canal.”

Cameron was diagnosed with terminal cancer and made it his dying wish to raise as much money as he could for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Cameron’s fundraising campaign began earlier this year, with its first major event being a trek from Newbrook Farm in Uley to Dursley, with those participating on horses and bikes, and Cameron himself on a quad.

Cameron and his mum have a wide-range of future fundraising events in the pipeline, including a skydive. Check gazetteseries.co.uk for details as they arrive.
