POLICE have released e-fit pictures of two men who are believed to have burgled an elderly couple's home in Cirencester, after first conning them out of a large sum of cash.

Last Tuesday morning (14 July), the couple reported that thieves had got into their home in Cheltenham Road overnight and broken into a cabinet, stealing hundreds of pounds in cash and a gold link bracelet.

While making the report, they disclosed that a few weeks ago, they had handed over a substantial amount of money to three workmen for gutter-cleaning, despite the initial quote being a small fraction of the final price.

It is understood that one of the men had followed the home owner into the house when he went to get money for the payment and had seen him take the cash out of the cabinet.

The e-fit pictures are of two of the men who carried out the guttering work and are now suspected of the committing the burglary.

Anyone with information which could help this enquiry is asked to call 101, quoting incident 47 of 14 July 2015.
