CONSERVATIVE councillors in Gloucestershire have clarified their position following a recent Gazette article about the Human Rights Act being discussed at a Stroud District Council meeting.
The group said that the Conservatives fully support all the human rights enshrined in the act but have issues about how it is interpreted within the European Union framework.
Stroud Conservative councillors fully support the government in introducing a UK Bill of Rights which is legally binding within the UK, judged by the UK Supreme Court and cannot be overridden by unelected EU officials, a spokesman for the group said.
