POLICE in Tewkesbury are appealing for witnesses after a girl reported that a man tried to grab her in the town.

The girl, 16, was walking alone along the A38 Tewkesbury bypass between the roundabout at the end of Snowdonia Road and the roundabout leading to Monterey Road between 12.20am and 12.30am on Sunday (23 August) when the incident happened.

A dark grey car stopped a short distance in front of her before the driver reversed and stopped next to her. A man got out and approached the girl from behind, grabbing both her arms. The girl managed to fight the man off and run home.

The man is described as Asian, 5ft 7ins -5ft 8ins tall, of medium build, in his 40s, with black medium length hair.

Officers are now asking anyone who saw anything that night or who recognise the description of the man to call 101, quoting incident 25 of 23 August.
