BIG crowds turned out at this year’s Slimbridge Horse Show – keen to take part in some of the new classes introduced for 2015.

Entries in the dressage and show jumping classes were well up on the previous year but down in the showing rings. The dog show was also well-attended.

This year several new classes were introduced to the show – team dressage and gymkhana games for adults over-25 proved particularly popular children watching on as their parents took part in the games they normally play.

The Horse and Hound class was revamped to include members of competitors’ families, their friends and spectators by turning it into a relay with the runner not required to be a horse rider.

Organisers also gratefully received two new trophies from the families of Diana Hall and Julie Hall-Tomkins. Both of whom had been involved with the horse show for a number of years.

Diana had helped with the show since the 1960s in both its organisation and as a competitor.

Julie started competing at Slimbridge show together with her sister, Karen, as a very small child with considerable success and continued her support of the show competitively until she joined the committee over 10 years ago.
