A WILDLIFE enthusiast from Sharpness managed to capture photographs of a dolphin in the River Severn before it was rescued by lifeboat crews.
The dolphin was trapped in a low tide in the Sharpness Port for around 24 hours before being rescued at the tail end of last week by the Severn Area Rescue Association.
Port workers offered some help as two lifeboats were used to coax out the dolphin and guide the animal out of the shipping complex.
Fortunately, local wildlife snapper managed to capture a few shots of the dolphin before the SARA team made their move.
He said: "I am a local wildlife enthusiast and wildlife photographer in my spare time.
"I carry out a bird survey at Sharpness regularly - it is my local ‘patch’.
"I was very pleased to get a photo of the dolphin, particularly as I only saw it was in the dock 10 minutes before sunset."
