BRITISH Transport Police are appealing for the public’s help after a woman was subjected to inappropriate behaviour during a train journey between Bristol and Cardiff.

Today, officers have released a CCTV image of a man they believe may have key information which could assist their investigation.

PC Kurtis Harmer, who is investigating the incident, said: “While travelling on a train between Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central, the victim - a 21-year-old woman – noticed a passenger who was sat opposite her behaving in an inappropriate manner.

“He then started taking photos of the victim on his mobile phone, which left her feeling frightened and in some distress.

“Unwanted and inappropriate behaviour of any kind on the rail network will not be tolerated. Fortunately incidents of this nature are rare but, when they do occur, we will do all we can to track down those responsible.”

Officers have been engaged in a lengthy investigation since the incident took place around 6pm on Friday, 26 June. Having conducted a number of CCTV enquiries, investigators have now isolated an image of a person they would like to speak to.

“As a result of our investigations, I am now in a position to release an image of a man we believe may hold crucial information in connection with this incident,” said PC Harmer.

“If you recognise the man pictured, or have any information about the incident, I would urge you to please come forward and talk to us. Your information could prove vital to this investigation.”
