THE family of a Cam man who has gone missing in Amsterdam are appealing for help in finding him.

Richard Cole, 30, a member of Stinchcombe Golf Club, has been missing since Monday (January 25) when he flew from Copenhagen to Amsterdam on business.

Richard, a valuer at Stroud Auctions, last made contact with his girlfriend Alice Marie at about 2am UK time on Monday morning. He had been visiting bars in the Thorbeckeplein area.

She said: "He was in Amsterdam going to museums and antique centres. Then he was supposed to take the train on Monday for a meeting on Tuesday.

"He never went to the meeting of course, and we have not heard from him since early Monday morning.

"He didn't have anything booked home, we were really waiting to see what happened with the meeting on Tuesday before deciding what was best."

Lyn Bowkett, from Stroud Auctions where Richard has worked as a specialist valuer in Asian art for six years, said: "He is exceptionally good in his specialist area of valuing and we are very lucky to have him work here.

"He is a great friend as well as a colleague. He is always good fun to be around.

"This is completely out of character for Richard. He is always online or in touch on the phone.

"He has been constantly on our minds since we heard he had been missing on Wednesday.

"We just hope he is found safe and well."

His mum Debbie Thornhill wrote on Facebook: "Thank you everyone for the support we have been given so far, but there has still been no news of Richard.

"Please keep sharing in hope that someone in Amsterdam has seen him or knows where he may be.

"Richard is a very special person not only to his family but to all his friends. Life would just not be the same without him.

"Please help us to keep searching for him. Thank you x."

Gloucestershire police has also issued an appeal to try and trace him.
Richard is described as white, around 1m 83cm tall and of slim build. He has short, dark-brown hair and could be wearing a shirt, jeans and a black Armani or Superdry jacket.

Anyone who may have information on this Richard’s whereabouts is asked to contact Gloucestershire police on 01452 726920, e-mail 101@gloucestershire.police.uk or go to gloucestershire.police.uk/contact-us/report-a-crime-or-incident
