POLICE investigating a collision on the A48 at Minsterworth have reiterated their appeal after the pedestrian involved sadly died.

The incident happened at around 5.15pm on Thursday, January 14, between a motorcyclist and an elderly pedestrian.

Both were taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The 18-year-old male motorcyclist sustained minor injuries and the 82-year-old female pedestrian suffered serious injuries, which at the time were not thought to be life threatening. Sadly the pedestrian did not fully recover from the collision and died last Friday, January 22, in Southmead hospital in Bristol

A road closure was in place for five hours whilst a collision investigation took place.

Sergeant Dave Kania from Gloucestershire Roads Policing Unit said: “I am urging anyone who may have seen this incident happen to come forward. The collision happened in the middle of evening rush hour so the road would have been very busy at the time.

“We’re particularly interested in anyone who was travelling along the A48 near the speed camera between Highnam and the Old Apple Tree Inn at around 5.15pm on Thursday 14 January.

“Our thoughts go out to the victim’s family, who have lost a cherished loved one. Anyone who has information on this should contact us as soon as possible”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the circumstances leading up to it is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 301 of Thursday 14 January.
