ONE of Gloucestershire's most notorious families have been offered housing in Stroud.

Authorities have found the Birch family temporary accommodation after weeks of sleeping rough in Gloucester.

The family, who have received 12 injunctions, three prison sentences and two evictions have been dubbed the 'family from hell' in the tabloid press.

But they are now promising to make a fresh start.

"We will keep the noise down, this has made us all think," said dad, Michael.

"We are turning over a new leaf."

A spokesman from Gloucester City Council and Gloucestershire County Council said: “Although we are not able to discuss individual cases, we can confirm that we have been working together to look at potential solutions.

Families often present themselves to us with a variety of challenges and difficulties.

"We, along with our partner agencies have responsibilities to all those we come in contact with, no matter what the circumstances.”

Around 300 hundred complaints were made against the family when they lived in Podsmead, Gloucester, with neighbours reporting loud, abusive and anti-social behaviour.

The family were also told to dump their problem pets - three snakes, five bearded dragon lizards and some goldfish.

They have been sleeping rough after being evicted from a Gloucester home they were squatting in.

Mum Jane Beard, 52, said four men rammed a trolley into her legs and a gang of youths ripped the quilts from them as they slept outside B&M.

Michael and his daughters Trudie, 28, and Ellen, 23, had an anti-social behaviour order made against them which covered all of Gloucester.

They will appeal before Gloucester County Court on Wednesday for sentencing for breaching anti-social behaviour orders.
