FOURTEEN runners representing businesses and organisations from Dursley took to the town’s high street to take part in the town’s annual pancake race.
The event, held each year to raise money for charities in the area, saw scores of people line the sides of Parsonage Street to cheer the would-be athletes on as they run and flip their way up and down the road.
Kai Smith, from the Hollies care home, took first place for the second year running, followed closely by Jonny Marks from Dursley Pool and Josh Bailey from The Old Spot.
Dursley’s deputy mayor Neil Grecian was on hand with other councillors and council staff.
He said: “It was good to see a good number of people who were competitive and enthusiastic about the race.
“It’s a good annual event for the town and we thought it was a good idea to let the winner choose which charity receives the money.”
Other organisations represented at the race included the Dursley Lions, Simply Foot Care, Wildwood Flowers, Barclays Bank and the Gazette.
Kai is yet to decide on which charity will benefit from the money raised by the event, which comes from £2 entry fees plus sponsorship from individual participants.
