A RESIDENT of Dursley has warned people in the town about a scam letter claiming the recipient has won £825,000.

The letter claims to be penned by "the prize director representing the Post Code lottery Michael Jones".

Riddled with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, the letter, titled "FINAL AWARD WINNING NOTIFICATION OF CLAIM" explains how the recepient has left £825,000 won in the Post Code Lottery unclaimed, urging them to get in touch to arrange "processing and remittance" of the money.

There is a twist, however, and those keen to collect the 'jackpot' have to pay a "processing fee" to ensure recepit of the money.

Russ Cooper, of Garden Suburb, received the letter earlier today.

"Just had this little scam drop on the doormat and thought it might be worth letting people know its doing the rounds," he said.

"Apparently I have won £825,000 and just have to call the phone number to arrange collection and pay the 'processing fee'.

"It's addressed to me personally with my correct address and postcode. Quite a few grammatical errors."
