SCORES of people turned out to Dursley Festival over the weekend and enjoyed the wide range of activities and stalls on offer.

The rain kept at bay until the end of the day, meaning the sun was shining through most of the festivities, as the community of Dursley came together for the annual event.

Organisers, who are standing down as of this year, said it was great to see people in the town coming out and enjoying themselves.

Beryl Gleich, who sat on the organising committee for the festival, told the Gazette the festival was a success.

“It was good to see people in town enjoying themselves and thankfully the rain held off until the end of the afternoon,” she said.

“It was a great day and we are very thankful to those who contributed in any way.”

Activities on offer on Saturday included a bouncy castle, children's games and craft activities, face painting, go-carts, a bungee run and a 'meet and greet' with the ‘Newborough Farm Neddies’ outside Sainsbury's.

Traders from the town and volunteers involved with charities had stalls lining the sides of Parsonage Street, while other entertainment included fitness challenges, a samba band and dancers, performances from choirs and drama groups, a fire juggler, circus skills workshops, a 'bubbleologist' and more.

This was the current organising group’s final festival, meaning another set of volunteers will have to step up to the plate for the festival in 2017. More to follow in future Gazettes.
