PLANS to demolish a community pub and erect 10 homes in Wotton-under-Edge were deferred by a district council committee for the third time - and the developer has said he will appeal on the grounds of non-determination.
Woodbourne Homes’ application to knock down The Full Moon in Mount Pleasant and replace it with houses was pushed back for a further three months by Stroud District Council’s development control committee.
Directing manager of the developer, Kappa Dulay, told the Gazette this morning he intended to immediately appeal to the secretary of state – something he may be able to do given the amount of time that has elapsed since the application was first submitted
If able to do so, the application will be taken out of the hands of SDC's planning committee and the decision made by the region’s planning inspector.
The plans were deferred again so that Synwell Community Action Group - who have offered to buy the pub and restore it for community use - could provide some substance to claims they have the financial capacity to takeover and run the establishment.
The Gazette has approached the district council to see if Woodbourne Homes would be within its rights to go to appeal and will update this story as soon as the information is available.
