A 50-YEAR-OLD man was injured after a small aeroplane crash landed on the air strip of a gliding club near Stroud.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to Bristol & Gloucestershire Gliding Club near Nympsfield at 1pm this afternoon after the RV-9A aeroplane crashed during its landing.

The solo male pilot sustained minor injuries during the accident.

A spokesman from South Western Ambulance Service said paramedics treated the man for neck injuries.

A spokesperson from the club said: “The light aircraft flipped over on its side in the wind as it was coming in for landing.

“The pilot was okay and his injuries don’t look too serious.”

The RV-9A is a two-seat, single-engine, low-wing homebuilt airplanes made by Van's Aircraft.

The gliding club has its own dedicated large grass strip airfield on top of the Cotswold edge.

It has around 200 flying members, a fleet of eight club owned gliders, with about another 70 privately owned gliders operating on site.
