THE daughter of a Cam woman who had to be taken to hospital following a fall in Parsonage Street, Dursley has hit out at the “terrible” condition of the road.

Rose Chappell, 70, cut her leg and face and was left “shaken up” after she tripped on uneven paving on Monday afternoon.

Following treatment at the Vale Community Hospital in Dursley she returned home but her daughter Geraldine Dunlop, who had to stay with her mum for the night, said that she is still feeling the effects of the fall.

“Luckily she didn’t fall on her head or this could have been much worse – she could have been knocked out,” Mrs Dunlop told the Gazette.

“The road is terrible, the paving is all uneven, so it’s no surprise she fell and I wouldn’t be surprised if others have too.”

Mrs Dunlop, who works at the MIND charity shop in Parsonage Street, added: “It needs to be sorted.

“Luckily for mum there were people who quickly came to help her and I work nearby so I could drop everything and run out to see her.

“The road is dangerous. Something needs to be done about it.”

Andrew Middlecote, local area highways manager at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “I’m sorry to hear about the lady’s fall.

“We have not received any reports of defects on the part of Parsonage Street, but we have arranged for a safety inspection to be carried out.

“If you do notice any defects on our highways network, report them through gloucestershire.gov.uk/report or 08000 514 514.”
