FOUR people were arrested after a police pursuit through Nailsworth, Stroud and Dursley.

A white Vauxhall Astra van suspected of being stolen during a burglary in Weston-Super-Mare on Monday was spotted by officers in Stroud on Saturday morning and allegedly failed to stop for police.

The vehicle was pursued in a high speed chase through Nailsworth, Stroud, Uley, Dursley and Cockadilly, where it came to a stop when it hit a stinger.

The driver made off on foot and was arrested a short distance away after being tracked with the help of a police dog.

He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and TWOC (Taking Without Owner's Consent).

Three passengers were also arrested on suspicion of TWOC.

Minor damage was caused to a police vehicle which was hit as the driver fled before coming to a stop.

Nobody was injured.
