CIGARETTES, believed to be worth thousands of pounds, were stolen in an overnight raid at a Dursley shop.

Three men were captured on CCTV, wearing hoodies and with their faces covered, breaking into the Co-op Food shop in Rosebery Road shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

CCTV footage shows the men forcing an internal door open and searching offices – although nothing was taken – meanwhile the two other men broke into shutters covering the cigarette shelves before putting the items, thought to be worth thousands of pounds, into a large purple bag.

Police were called at 11.42pm after a member of the public witnessed four men running from the scene and the burglar alarm at the shop going off.

A vehicle, which is thought to be a black Audi A6, was then heard pulling away and travelling in the direction of Uley.

Police would like to speak to anyone in the vicinity who saw a dark, powerful car at the time and anyone who may have any information which could aid investigating officers in their enquiries.

People with information should call 101 quoting incident 475 of January 10.
