A HEARING will be held in Stroud following the district council’s decision to refuse permission for trees in Dursley to be pruned.

Plans were submitted in January 2016 requesting permission to ‘pollard’ six trees in Ewelme Close by residents following concerns about branches falling into the road and that they were blocking light into nearby homes.

The application was refused by Stroud District Council in March, despite being supported by Dursley Town Council, because of the negative effect on the trees, a lack of evidence to support claims of homes being devoid of sunlight and the proposed pruning method being contrary to policy.

Appealing the decision the following month, residents said that they wanted to look after the trees.

As part of the appeals process, a hearing was scheduled to take place on January 10 with a planning inspector but has now been rescheduled and will be held at Stroud Subscription Rooms at 10am on January 24 and will also include a site visit.
