THE coastguard team based at Sharpness was called-out twice on Sunday to respond to separate incidents of a person and pet stuck in mud on the banks of the Severn.

In the first incident, they were paged to assist the fire service in rescuing a dog that had become stuck in mud on the banks of the Severn estuary.
They were stood down as they were leaving the station as the dog had been rescued.

A report of a woman who had also become stuck in the mud just after 5pm prompted the Sharpness coastguard’s second call-out of the day.
The woman was already safe when the team arrived.
