POLICE have issued a warning to the public after a security firm cold-called a Berkeley resident and claimed that they worked with the constabulary.
The call was made yesterday by a representative of a home security company and was reported to police as being persistent and hard-selling with the caller pressing for a home visit to be arranged.
The company claimed to be working with Gloucestershire police in order to arrange these visits however police have confirmed that they do not work with independent security firms and do not ask security companies to contact residents in this way.
Officers have made Trading Standards aware of the call.
Anyone who receives a similar call should either call police on 101, or email 101@gloucestershire.pnn.police.uk
