FIREFIGHTERS are at the scene of a fire at a home in Newport.
Residents reported hearing a 'bang' shortly before 6pm this evening (January 21) before the fire broke out at the house off the A38 in the village.
Three crews of firefighters - two from Thornbury and one from Dursley - attended the blaze in a workshop building at the home after it was reported at 5.28pm.
The building is being used as a garage with machinery and a digger inside at the time.
Crews used three water jets and two ground monitors to tackle the fire and they remain on the scene.
The A38 was closed briefly by police whilst the incident was dealt with but has since been reopened.
